Did October’s Rain Make Up Naples’ Year-To-Date Deficit?
October certainly gave it a good try. Naples Airport recorded 6.57 inches of rain, compared with 3.87 inches in October 2025. The improvement is easy to see around town, where many of our lakes and ponds are sitting noticeably higher.
The rain also made a meaningful dent in the year-to-date deficit. Naples was 8.12 inches below normal at the end of September, but that gap narrowed to 5.48 inches by the end of October. Mother Nature did not pay off the entire balance, but she finally made a pretty good deposit!
Through the first ten months of 2026, Naples Airport has received 41.36 inches of rain, compared with the normal total of 46.84 inches. We remain about 12% below normal, although we are now slightly ahead of the 40.76 inches recorded through October last year.
Temperatures were nearly identical to last October, with a monthly high of 92 degrees in both years. This October’s low was 65 degrees, which left those of us in Naples with the usual difficult decision: does 65 degrees require long sleeves?
So, did October erase the rainfall deficit? Not quite—but it brought us considerably closer.
